The Emerald Tablet 2021

Description

The entire text of The Emerald Tablet is written exactly once in jail diwani Arabic calligraphy to form a softened rectangle in the divine ratio. Each word is written in one of six alternating pigments to aid in legibility for the uninitiated. The Emerald Tablet has long been considered the foundational text of western Alchemy. The oldest extant recension of the text in any language is in Arabic occurring in pseudo Apollonius of Tyana’s Sir Al Khaliqa (The Secret of Creation)

English Translation by Steele, Robert and Singer, Dorothea Waley, 1928:

True it is, without falsehood, certain and most true. That which is above is like to that which is below, and that which is below is like to that which is above, to accomplish the miracles of one thing. And as all things were by contemplation of one, so all things arose from this one thing by a single act of adaptation. The father thereof is the Sun, the mother the Moon. The wind carried it in its womb, the earth is the nurse there of. It is the father of all works of wonder throughout the whole world. The power thereof is perfect. If it be cast on to earth, it will separate the element of earth from that of fire, the subtle from the gross. With great sagacity it doth ascend gently from earth to heaven. Again it doth descend to earth, and uniteth in itself the force from things superior and things inferior. Thus thou wilt possess the glory of the brightness of the whole world, and all obscurity will fly far from thee. This thing is the strong fortitude of all strength, for it overcometh every subtle thing and doth penetrate every solid substance. Thus was this world created. Hence will there be marvellous adaptations achieved, of which the manner is this. For this reason I am called Hermes Trismegistus, because I hold three parts of the wisdom of the whole world. That which I had to say about the operation of Sol is completed.

تم كتابة كامل النص في لوح الزمرد مرة واحدة باستخدام الخط الدیواني الجلي لیشكل مستطیل بالنسبة الذھبیة. كما كتبت كل كلمة من ستة أصباغ متناوبة للمساعدة في التوضیح لغیر المتمرسین .في هذا اللوح تم تقدیم اقدم كتابة وجدت لھذا النص في اي لغة، مأخوذة من بادئة أبولینوس ” سر الخلق”

حق لا شك فيه صحیح

إن الأعلى من الأسفل والأسفل من الأعلى

عمل العجائب من واحد كما كانت الأشیاء كلھا من واحد بتدبیر واحد

أبوه الشمس ، أمه القمر

حملتھ الریح في بطنھا، غذتھ الأرض

أبو الطلسمات، خازن العجائب، كامل القوى

نار صارت أرضا اعزل الأرض من النار

اللطیف أكرم من الغلیظ

برفق وحكم یصعد من الأرض إلى السماء وینزل إلى الأرض من السماء وفیھ قوة الأعلى والأسفل

لأن معه نور الأنوار فلذلك تھرب منه الظلمة

قوة القوى

یغلب كل شيء لطیف، یدخل في كل شيء غلیظ

على تكوین العالم الأكبر تكوّن العمل

فھذا فخري ولذلك سمّیت ھرمس المثلّث بالحكمة
